A small unincorporated area of Santa Cruz County, Aptos, California is comprised of a number of quaint communities. The name Aptos comes from the area’s natural inhabitants, the Ohlone Awaswas, and literally means “the meeting of two creeks.” The community is home to The Forest of Nisene Marks State Park and Seacliff State Beach California state parks, popular among hikers and mountain bikers. Its scarcely touched beaches are popular spots for surfing and body boarding. The city hosts a number of popular events and local festivals, including the annual “World’s Shortest Parade” on the Fourth of July. At the annual Aptos Blues Festival you will see famous blues artists. Past performers have included Al Green, Bonnie Raitt and Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown.
